New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers recently shared a UFO encounter he experienced during the 2005 NFL Draft, describing it as reminiscent of a scene from the movie “Independence Day.”
At the time, Rodgers was in New Jersey, staying at the home of his old college football teammate, Steve Levy. While there, they heard a distant alarm ringing and decided to investigate.
Rodgers, his brother, and Levy witnessed a massive unidentified flying object moving through the sky, and it left them in awe.
“It was definitely unidentified, it was definitely flying, and it was definitely a large object,” Rodgers recounted during an appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks. “Up in the clouds, we heard this sound and we saw this tremendously large object moving through the sky. It was like a scene out of ‘Independence Day,’ when the ships are coming into the atmosphere, creating this kind of like explosion-type fire in the sky.”
The trio froze in disbelief until they heard fighter jet engines in the distance, suggesting the presence of military aircraft in pursuit of the mysterious object.
“About 30 seconds later, we heard the real recognizable sound of fighter jets going zoom, zoom, zoom,” Rodgers added. “They seemed to be chasing this object… We just stood there in disbelief for another few minutes. Nobody said a word. Then we all looked at each other like, ‘Did we just see what we thought we just saw?’”
Rodgers speculated that the alarm they heard might have come from a nearby nuclear power plant, noting that UFO sightings are often reported around nuclear facilities, volcanoes, and power plants.
Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets in a high-profile trade from the Green Bay Packers earlier in the year. His presence is expected to bolster the Jets’ quest for a Super Bowl, with the hope that the legendary quarterback can lead the team to its first championship since the late 1960s.
In addition to his role as the Jets’ starting quarterback, Rodgers is also mentoring young quarterback Zach Wilson, who was the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Jets’ 2023 season begins with a home game against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Sept. 11, followed by a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, and consecutive home games against the New England Patriots and the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
