Caitlin Clark Is Blowing Up Online Over Response To WNBA Drama
Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark turned a lot of heads after she addressed the recent controversy with Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter, as well as the buzz surrounding her in the WNBA.
Clark, in her usual humble demeanor, emphasized that she doesn’t like the fact that much of the focus has been on stuff outside basketball, sharing her desire to bring more attention to the game.
In line with that, the Fever rising star said that she’s doing her best not to pay attention to the non-basketball issues and just focus on working on her game and development.
“My focus is basketball. Sometimes it stinks how much the conversation is outside of basketball and not the product on the floor and the amazing players that are on the floor and how good they are for their teams and how great this season has been for women’s basketball,” Clark explained.
Clark’s response grabbed plenty of attention, with many actually praising her for how she handled it.
“She never says anything negative about anyone,” a fan commented on NBC4 Sports’ video of her interview with reporters.
An impressed supporter said, “She’s articulate and thoughtful for a 22 year young woman with what may seem like the weight of the world on her shoulders at time. She handles herself well. I certainly wouldn’t have at that age. I was a mess at 22.”
“Given a mic and she praises everyone else. She praised her coaches, her teammates, and the entire league. She had a GENUINE smile on her face when talking about how much she enjoys getting to have the opportunity to play a sport be her job. How can anyone hate on this kid?” a commenter noted.

A fourth fan shared, “She’s always so genuine and honest and never talks bad about other players. Just wants to ball but with so much pressure and expectations on her must be hard at times, not many athletes ever have had this much pressure to be great immediately. She’ll be great no doubt!”
Caitlin Clark certainly deserves praise for how she’s handling herself amid the constant spotlight and pressure brought by her insane popularity. She’s doing a great job of focusing on the more important things as well, which should only help her grow as she adjusts to the WNBA.
