“I Deserve Better: Nicki Minaj Reveals Why She Left Young Money”

In a significant move, Nicki Minaj has announced that she is no longer under contract with Young Money, the label founded by iconic rapper Lil Wayne. This news comes as she gears up for her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Pink Friday 3. Minaj took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share the update with her devoted fans, affectionately known as her “Barbz.” In her post, she reflected on her long-standing relationship with Young Money, which has been a part of her career since 2004.

On September 27, 2024, she addressed rumors surrounding her departure, clarifying that her contract had actually ended years ago. “After 15 years, Nicki Minaj has officially ended her contract with Young Money. It’s been over for a while. You can read my tweets, but you choose not to,” she stated. She also corrected claims that Pink Friday 3 would be her first album with Republic Records, emphasizing that her previous project, Pink Friday 2, was also released directly through Republic. Furthermore, she noted that her classic mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty, was made available on streaming platforms via the same label. Minaj’s announcement marks a new chapter in her career as she continues to evolve as an artist.
