Sophie Turner got candid about the struggles of “being a single mother” following her divorce from Joe Jonas.
The actress opened up about raising her and the “Work It Out” crooner’s two daughters — Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2 — while promoting her forthcoming series, “Joan,” which tells the story of a single mom and jewel thief in the ’80s.
“If I hadn’t been a mother, I don’t know if I would have been able to bring the same energy that I did into it,” she told the Sunday Times.
“It’s such a struggle being a single mother. Joan doesn’t go about it in the best way … but it is amazing to see her really fighting for her daughter.”
Turner, 28, continued, “It’s also really important for kids to see just how hard parents work for them.”
The “Game of Thrones” alum started filming the drama series ahead of Jonas, 35, filing for divorce in September 2023.
She explained that playing the role of the main character “changed” her “a lot” during a time when she had to be “ambitious” and have the “strong will” to “fight against the forces.”
“Joan gave me a lot of strength,” she told the British newspaper.
“She also taught me how to do a good ring swap in a handbag,” the mom of two quipped.
Comparing her character to her current situation, the “Dark Phoenix” star said she believes there has been so much “shame” that comes with being a mom.
“There’s so much shame that comes with motherhood,” she said. “You go to work, you’re shamed. If you don’t go to work, you’re shamed.”
Turner and Jonas, who tied the knot in 2019 in Las Vegas, pulled the plug on their union last year after four years of marriage.
Shortly after separating, headlines circulated that the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star left her ex and their daughters to party.
