The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-0 despite offensive struggles. They have been decimated by key injuries, including the injury to top wide receiver Rashee Rice.

While outlining trade deadline predictions, USA Today’s Cory Woodroof predicted that the Chiefs will make this trade for Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams:

  • Chiefs receive: Cooper Kupp
  • Rams receive: conditional second-round pick

“The Rams go ahead and get premium draft capital for Kupp from a Chiefs team desperate for help at wide receiver. Los Angeles might not get back on the saddle in time to contend, and Puka Nacua is essentially Kupp’s heir apparent in the offense,” wrote Woodroof. “Kansas City sends Los Angeles a conditional second-round pick to get this done. Kupp gives Patrick Mahomes the wideout he needs badly.”

Kupp signed a three-year, $80 million extension with the Rams in 2022. He will not be a free agent until 2028. The Chiefs are in desperate need of wide receiver help and the Rams may not be contenders by the November 5 deadline.

Kupp has played in just two games this year but is set to return in week eight. In those two games, he had 18 catches for 147 yards. He was named Super Bowl MVP in 2022 when the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals.

The injury to Rice has left the Chiefs to rely heavily on Travis Kelce and rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy. While Worthy is very talented he is still a developing player. He is not ready to carry the load of the offense. Kupp would bring a talented, proven veteran to the team.
