The Kansas City Chiefs are a complete disaster right now … For their standards that is.
Of course, there’s still time for them to turn things around and find their old groove – but it’s clear the 2023 Chiefs have holes that the teams of the past few years didn’t.
On his “New Heights” podcast, tight end Travis Kelce spoke of the current dysfunction and made it clear that the entire team is to blame, not just one or two players.
“It’s not just one guy. It’s not just me playing like dog sh*t. It’s not just us not being able to get the run game going. It’s not just us not being on the same page, passing-wise. Everybody’s in this f*cking thing together. Everybody at some point isn’t being accountable,” he said.
"I think [Mahomes] needs to fall in love with the mundane. Yes, for 5 years we have been used to the big plays to Tyreek, to Kelce, all of that… It's time to be Checkdown Tom Brady…"

“Every single play is somebody not doing their job, and it’s me…it’s everybody on the team. And whether that’s prep, whether that’s having the confidence and understanding of what the defense is in their coverages, their gaps in the run game, how we’re picking up blitzes, how we’re running routes versus certain coverages. All the above,” he frustratingly added.
Kelce’s correct in saying that it’s virtually the entire team that’s not living up to their standard. That includes him, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, everyone.
Having said that, Mahomes and Kelce are the two faces of the franchise, and one former Chiefs great is sick and tired of their whining and complaining on the sidelines.
Appearing on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” former Kansas City star Dante Hall did not mince words as he called out Mahomes and Kelce for their recent sideline outbursts, likening their behavior to that of “spoiled little brats.”
Hall didn’t shy away from addressing the issues he believes are affecting the Chiefs. He started by pointing fingers at the top, singling out offensive coordinator Matt Nagy for not taking proper control of the offense.
“The issues begin from the top with Matt Nagy. He’s got to take control of his team,” Hall said.
He then turned his attention to Mahomes, urging the star quarterback to change his approach on the field.
“Mahomes needs to fall in love with the mundane and stop trying to make the big play every single time,” Hall said.
Yet, the most striking critique came when Hall discussed the on-field demeanor of both Mahomes and Kelce. He emphasized the importance of body language and condemned their recent outbursts on the sidelines.
“Body language is everything. When you are screaming and yelling at your players, that permeates negatively. What you have had in the first five years, that poker face, we know we’re gonna win this in the end, that permeates positively … Get back to being positive and not much ‘agh’ on the sideline with your guys,” he said.
Hall then compared the actions of Mahomes and Kelce to misbehaving children.
“It’s like my little kids running around here on Christmas Day. We got you a Christmas tree filled with presents and you’re acting like spoiled little brats … These guys know I love them,” he said.
Hall then addressed Mahomes and Kelce directly, saying: “So, as a friend, as a brother, I had to call ya out. This is not a good look. I’m watching the game with my kids, my daughter loves Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and you’re acting like that? C’mon, guys! Be better, and I think the team will be better.”
What are your thoughts on Hall’s comments? … Does he have a point?
More importantly, what exactly is wrong with the Chiefs?
Will they be able to fix it in time for the playoffs?
Or is their budding-dynasty dying???
