Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata took a special trip to Washington D.C. for the holidays to perform in front of a very important audience.
Mailata was invited to the White House by the President of the United States Joe Biden to perform a song from “A Philly Special: Christmas Special.” It was part of a surprise for First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, who was born in New Jersey and is notably an Eagles fan in addition to the Phillies, Flyers and Sixers.
President Biden himself has been seen supporting the Philadelphia teams during his time in office, wearing Phillies socks during a speech at one point. Ahead of Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles, he sent out a message of support to his wife’s favorite team.
“As your president, I’m not picking favorites. But as Jill Biden’s husband, fly Eagles, fly,” Biden tweeted ahead of the game.
Mailata was asked to sing “This Christmas” from the second album that came out this year. Mailata along with Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson started this last season when they released “A Philly Special Christmas” to support local charities in Philadelphia.
Proceeds from the album release are donated to the charities in the area including the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
This week, the Eagles will be hosting the New York Giants on Christmas Day at 4:30 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia will be trying to break a three-game losing streak on Monday afternoon and maintain control in the NFC East.
