The Dallas Cowboys have undeniably established themselves as one of the NFL’s premier teams this season. With Dak Prescott’s MVP-worthy performances, CeeDee Lamb’s explosive skills as a wide receiver, and a defense that’s firing on all cylinders, it’s a season to remember for Cowboys fans. However, star linebacker Micah Parsons recently had a humorous bone to pick with some of his teammates, leading to an entertaining rant.
Let’s be clear, there’s no locker room drama or animosity between Parsons and his fellow players. Rather, Micah Parsons seems to have a craving for some culinary diversity among his teammates. The Cowboys’ standout has been taking lessons from Stephon Gilmore on adopting a healthier eating regimen. But according to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Parsons isn’t quite on the same level of dietary discipline as Gilmore.
While Parsons enjoys savoring the flavors of his food, Gilmore and even Brandin Cooks are known to opt for a more Spartan approach, often consuming rather plain and bland meals. The contrast in their eating habits didn’t escape Micah Parsons, who didn’t mince words when discussing his experiences with Gilmore’s dietary regimen.
“He’s nuts. I don’t know if I’m ready for his level of commitment,” Parsons quipped, acknowledging the differences in their approaches. He went on to recount an amusing incident during training camp when he spotted Cooks and Gilmore eating nothing but fried noodles, devoid of any sauces or enhancements. Parsons’ reaction was priceless, as he exclaimed, “You guys are nuts,” before opting for a decidedly less austere meal from Popeyes.
Indeed, consuming plain, warmed-up noodles might strike many as an eccentric choice. It’s hard to disagree with Parsons’ sentiment on that front. However, both Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks are veterans, both aged 30 or above, who understand the dietary sacrifices required to perform at the highest level.
While indulging in healthier eating habits may seem quirky, there’s something to be said for its long-term benefits. The NFL icon Tom Brady, known for his meticulous dietary choices throughout his career, serves as a prime example. While not everyone may be clamoring for avocado ice cream, there’s no denying that a healthy diet has played a pivotal role in extending his career well into his 40s.
Micah Parsons, on the other hand, is still in the early stages of his NFL journey and can afford the occasional cheat day. Perhaps, down the road, a young player might jest about Parsons’ culinary choices once he becomes a seasoned veteran in the league. Nevertheless, it’s clear that the Cowboys may want him to embrace the healthier habits championed by Gilmore and Cooks sooner rather than later.
