Debating the Fumble Touchback Rule: Fans Once Again in Heated Discussion

Nothing gets a football debate going like a nice touchdown/touchback debate.

As Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb reached for the pylon against the Lions on Saturday night, he fumbled the ball out of bounds through the endzone and flipped momentum to Detroit.

Fans went back and forth about the call on Twitter.

“NOT THE FUMBLE TOUCHBACK,” Mine Kimes replied.

“Why do peeps think that the touchback rule is the worst rule in the NFL?” Jerry Azumah asked. “1st off I can think of worse and 2nd how about don’t fumble?!? I think the rule is fair. You shouldn’t get bailed out on a fumble!”

“In case your interested in learning why the touchback fumble rule is actually good,” PFT Commenter.

“Touchback rule is just fine. It’s a field position sport. If you fumble the ball out the back of your opponent’s end zone it makes sense that your opponent now has possession. You rolled the football across enemy lines. So now your enemy gets the ball on the 20. Checks out to me.”
