DeVonta Smith was spotted in a walking boot and using crutches following the Philadelphia Eagles disaster-class against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Smith was injured on a horrible play call late in the fourth quarter while blocking for Kenny Gainwell on a 3rd-and-19 screen on the Cardinals’ 29-yard line.
Yes. DeVonta Smith, a deep ball 1,000 yard receiver who weighs just 170 pounds was injured late in the fourth quarter blocking for backup running back Kenny Gainwell on a 3rd-and-19 screen that resulted in just a 4-yard gain. It’s as insane as it sounds, unfortunately.
The result of the drive was a brief 3-point lead for the Eagles, before the defense allowed the Cardinals to drive down the field and score a touchdown to pull off ridiculous comeback victory on Sunday.

In desperate need of some good news, reports today say that the DeVonta Smith only suffered a mild ankle sprain. He’ll undergo additional tests today and the injury is not considered to be anything major.
DeVonta Smith has played all 50 games in the regular season and all four games in the playoffs since being selected No. 10 overall by the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Speaking of the Eagles, they no longer control their own fate heading into the final week of the regular season.
Philadelphia will need to beat the Giants on Sunday and the Cowboys will need to lose on the road if they want to win the NFC East for the second-straight season.
The Eagles have lost four out of their last five games after starting the season 10-1.
