The NFL 2023-24 regular season is finished and the analysts are focussing highly on the playoffs. Nonetheless, the talks are going on regarding the players’ performance in the regular season. Especially, the quarterbacks are still attracting a lot of media talk and discussions.
In the latest episode of Speak, Emmanuel Acho pointed out a sharp contrast between the media treatment of Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts. He said that the media does not treat the two quarterbacks in the same way.
“Remember all the slander we gave Dak Prescott last year for his 23 TD’s & 15INT’s, well Jalen hurts as a passer is the same as Dak Prescott was as a passer last year.”

Despite taking a jibe at the ‘passer’ Jalen Hurts, Acho did not deny the role of the quarterback as a rusher. He even said “Kudos to Jalen for his 12/15 rushing touchdowns.” Nonetheless, his point was simple, Hurts had an average season and he is not being treated as Dak was earlier.
Consistency has remained a problem for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles
Jalen Hurts had an inconsistency problem throughout the season. He and his team started the season very well. But both of them suffered badly halfway through the season. The Eagles were at 9-1 after 10 games and everyone thought that it would be very easy for them to bag the NFC Conference seed. However, that did not happen.
The Eagles ended up losing five games in their next seven and finished the season with 11-6. The team went through some structural changes like demoting DC Sean Desai and that did not have a good impact on the squad. Defense remained a major concern for them and demoting Desai did not help the situation.
If defense was the first problem of the team then the second can be attributed to the performance of Jalen Hurts. Hurts’ interceptions in the later half of the league had a bad impact on the team’s performance.
