Haley Cavinder has admitted to having a ‘mental breakdown’ when social media bullies left cruel comments about her appearance after she and Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made their relationship public.
Cavinder, who became a social media sensation along with her twin sister Hanna on the University of Miami basketball team, has been in a happy relationship with Ferguson since October.
But she was left upset after the start of their romance as she says she was called ‘ugly on the internet 24/7.’
‘I was in Forever 21 having a great day with my mom and Hannah and I got this post and I just started looking at the comments about my face,’ she said in a recent YouTube video with Hanna, as relayed by the NY Post.
‘I’m a confident girl, but when people are saying stuff about you — if you have a boyfriend and someone is talking about you online with your boyfriend… like coming at your features — I’m like, this is new and obviously Jake is a great guy, but you don’t want to be called ugly on the internet 24/7, and your boyfriend sees it. That’s not going to make anyone feel cool.
”So I had a mental breakdown, but that was a while ago. Honestly, I’m very confident and comfortable sharing my relationship because Jake was very loud about it… He was always like that so it made me feel very comfortable and confident sharing him as well.’
Haley and Hanna were recently spotted at AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys dominant 33-13 win over the Eagles in December.
The twin sisters donned blue and white Cowboy jerseys to cheer on the home team, with Haley sharing several pictures to Instagram.
Haley, who transferred to TCU from Miami in November, first fueled speculation that she was dating Ferguson in September when she posed in a Cowboys shirt on Instagram – with the NFL player commenting a heart eyes emoji on the post.
She also wrote ‘How bout them cowboys’ above a picture of herself in a Cowboys top and cowboy boots before she attended the team’s game at the Cardinals that month.
And as Haley said in her YouTube ‘Q and A’ with her sister, it doesn’t seem like she has any intentions to hide her relationship with Ferguson.
‘He’s a big part of my life and will continue so it’s not something that I [want to] keep private,’ she said. ‘I go to Cowboys games and he’ll be at my games.’
