Kevin Durant’s ‘adopted brother’ Clifford Dixon shot to death outside bar

A man Kevin Durant referred to as his “adopted brother” was shot to death outside a bar in Atlanta, early Thursday morning, according to police.

Clifford Dixon, 32, was found dead in the parking lot of SL Lounge after having just arrived at the bar. He was reportedly standing in the parking lot when he was shot multiple times and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The gunman ran away from the scene, police said.

The close friend of Durant’s was among those the NBA star mentioned in a speech after being named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player during the 2013-2014 season.

“There are days I come home upset after a game or a practice and you just brighten my day up,” Durant said during his speech. “I thank you guys. I wouldn’t be here without you guys. This is our trophy, too.”
