Micah Parsons fulfilled a lifelong promise to his mother this week when he bought her a brand-new home.
According to his Instagram story Saturday, Parsons surprised his mother with a house in Dallas, Texas, that’s “all for [her].” The former Penn State linebacker didn’t delve into details with his post, but it’s clear his mom is a pretty big fan.
Parsons has discussed his relationships with his mom and his family at length since he grew into the spotlight. In April, he said he planned to use his first NFL checks to clear his mother’s debt and set his family up well.
“I want to finally get my own house, clear my mom’s debt. I moved a lot when I was younger, and if I could put me and my mother into our own home and have something to call ours, it would be amazing,” Parsons told BroBible in an interview.
Parsons, drafted No. 12 overall by the Dallas Cowboys, signed his rookie contract back in June. The standard four-year deal was reportedly fully guaranteed, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. OverTheCap.com estimates the deal exceeds $17 million.
Parsons is far from the first NFL-bound Penn Stater to treat his mother well. Just last winter, Marcus Allen surprised his mom with a new car for Christmas. Miles Sanders did the same before his rookie season, too.
Parsons will wear No. 11 with the Cowboys — the same number he wore with the Nittany Lions. Although Dallas already has a strong linebacker corps, Parsons is expected to make an immediate impact with the Cowboys’ defense. Coincidentally, he’ll arrive just after Penn State legend and fellow linebacker Sean Lee retired with Dallas in April.
