The Dallas Cowboys‘ Micah Parsons had no intention of losing the Celebrity All-Star game as he posted 37 points and 16 rebounds with four steals in a 100-91 win over Team Stephen A leading to fans mocking him for taking the exhibition event too seriously in their view.
Perhaps Parsons wanted the chance to blow off some steam after the Cowboys screwed up the postseason by being eliminated by the Green Bay Packers 38-32 in the NFC Wild Card round back on January 14 but either way, the linebacker’s performance was outstanding.
He was named MVP for Team Shannon and shared the court with other talented athletes such as the Houston Texans‘ CJ Stroud and the Los Angeles Rams‘ wide receiver Puka Nakua, who appeared to be taking the exhibition game a little more leisurely.
Parsons also didn’t settle for winning the contest and the MVP award, he had words to say about the rival coach, the famous pundit, Stephen A. Smith as he was presented the trophy and called back to some disrespect on his name.
“Stephen A. had me on his podcast the other day and said I won’t win MVP,” Parsons said collecting the award. “There won’t be a Dallas Cowboy coming in and ruining his day.
“Well, guess what? His day is ruined again. Crossed him up yesterday, doing it to him today.”
Maybe that’s where his true motivation lies for wanting to put in such a box office performance, which, if true, would mean Smith’s own mouth possibly cost him an All-Star win. Which would, in fairness, be on brand for the journalist.
However, one thing that you can’t always overturn is the court of public opinion and Parsons was duly slammed for his serious attitude at the event.
Although he probably won’t mind since he walked away with a win, MVP award and the bragging rights over Smith before the next NFL season begins.
Nonetheless, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to post their thoughts on his outing.
One user wrote, “Micah Parsons is an ego maniac.”
Whilst a second commented, “Bro put up better stats tonight than in 4 career playoff games.”
A third said, “The only victory Dallas fans will experience for the next ten years.”
And a fourth declared, “Micah Parsons with a better performance tonight than in the playoffs not surprising.”
