Hunter Niswander has delivered punts for Northwestern, the Cowboys, the XFL’s DC Defenders and the USFL’s Houston Gamblers throughout a well-traveled career.
However, none have had quite as much of an impact as the delivery he made Saturday in his native Ohio.
On Friday night, Niswander indicated in a tweet that he delivered his wife’s baby on the side of the road in Solon, a suburb of Cleveland.
“My wife is a champ!!!… And God is so good! Mama and baby are doing great! And yes, I got to deliver our baby on the side of the highway! Shoutout to our local fire department and EMTs… you all got there so fast and helped tremendously!” Niswander wrote.

The punter quote-tweeted a report from a Northeast Ohio police and fire scanner account that described a “female (giving) birth in her car on the freeway. Baby is awake and crying.”
He later shared the tweet to his Instagram stories, revealing that his wife gave birth to “another little miracle baby girl.”
Niswander punted in eight games for Dallas in 2020, averaging 47.2 yards per punt. His 9,305 punting yards with the Wildcats are a program record.
