Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Texas Tech team beat Travis Kelce’s Cincinnati Bearcats, so Kelce had to wear the Red Raider mascot head as part of their wager.
Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes put a wager on the first-ever meeting between their alma mater, the Cincinnati Bearcats, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who faced off during week 5 of college football. The loser had to fulfill a friendly challenge on camera as punishment.
The game ended 44-41, with Texas Tech overtaking the Bearcats at the start of the third quarter and eventually winning their fourth game of the season.
As Cincinnati lost, it was time for Kelce to reveal the punishment, which he did during the latest episode of the New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
As Travis’ older brother Jason Kelce chowed down on a Philly’s special, the all-pro tight end came out wearing the head of the Red Raiders mascot, The Masked Rider. An amused Jason joked that even with the mascot head, Travis looked exactly the same.

Travis Kelce agreed.
The 3x Super Bowl winner revealed that he wore the mascot head under the mascot head, which made him sweat a lot. According to Kelce, it was the first time wearing a game-used mascot head.
We’ve got a great show, but first Trav had to settle a bet with @PatrickMahomes

Travis Kelce has a unique Texas accent
After explaining the reason behind the giant mascot head, Jason asked his brother to say something in his best Texas accent. The 34-year-old obliged, and his take was unique.
Patrick Mahomes, who recently celebrated his 29 birthday, reshared the clip, on social media with the hashtag ‘WreckEm’ although it’s unclear whether he approved of Kelce’s Texas accent.
The news about a wager first surfaced when the Chiefs played against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Broadcast legend Jim Nantz highlighted it during the game.
The Chiefs won against the Chargers, keeping their unbeaten start to the 2024 season alive. Up next, Kelce and co. will welcome the New Orleans Saints.
