Rob Parker: “Patrick Mahomes right here, right now is not a top 5 quarterback. I’m talking about just numbers. People get caught up on this – we’re not talking about a lifetime achievement, I just said he’s going to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s won three Super Bowls and two MVPs, he’s going to get in. But we’re just talking about how he’s playing right now and the numbers. THEY’RE NOT GOOD. I know people don’t wanna hear it and think ‘OH, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!’… He’s like the James Harden in reverse. James Harden plays great in the regular season and is bad in the postseason. Patrick Mahomes has not been great in the regular season but he plays great in the postseason.”
Robert Guerra: “Mahomes has the second-most INTs with five, the second-most turnover-worthy plays with seven, the second-lowest average depth of target, which means he’s turning into a ‘check-down Charlie’, 6.1 yards. For comparison, Anthony Richardson, tops in the league, is over 13. His passing yards through the first four games are the worst for his NFL career, 904. His EPA per drop back, which is an advanced stat that all these nerds like these days, 0.05, the worst for any NFL season for him in his career. Dating back to last season, in his last nine games Mahomes has 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.”
Parker: “The thing that’s scary is – his two top receivers are hurt, the running back is hurt, and he can’t even elevate other people like he normally did. He joined the Chiefs when they were loaded. Now Kelce is not as great, his numbers are down, there’s all these injuries… It is amazing at much they’ve struggled. When you talk about all-time greats, you usually say they elevate the other people around you. Now as your strip down the team he can’t elevate those other guys. I don’t think this team is that good and think they’ve been very lucky. The Chiefs are a fraudulent 4-0.”
Watch Rob Parker of Fox Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple explain why he no longer believes Patrick Mahomes is a top 5 quarterback, as Parker says the ‘fraudulent’ 4-0 Chiefs are being led by a quarterback who no longer can elevate his teammates.
